IVA_Training_Suit

Intravehicular Activity training suits introduce spaceflight trainees to the challenges of wearing a pressurized suit that will keep you alive in case of spacecraft loss of pressure above about 40,000 feet. Operating at up to 3.5psig in a seated position, they are wired for communication and may be water- or air-cooled. They may be operated with normal air or 100% Aviator’s Breathing Oxygen. Each suit is supplied with a detailed manual specifying Normal and Emergency procedures, checklists for suit preparation, donning and doffing, cleaning / maintenance procedures, a suit use and maintenance log and a suggested training regime. Depending on a variety of factors, these suits cost from $1,500 to $3,000.
