These suits introduce the trainee to altered-gravity simulations, using their buoyant force as a proxy for reduced gravity beyond Earth or in Low Earth Orbit while submerged in a Neutral Buoyancy facility. They are currently surface-supplied with normal air, but are being developed to be umbilical-free, supplied with autonomous main and emergency breathing gas supplies and communications. Operating with either constant-pressure (3.5psig) or variable-pressure philosophies, they are fitted with means for careful ballasting to achieve the desired g-rating. Depending on many variables, these suits cost between $10,000 and $30,000.
